Bio-Design Research: Self Hardening Soil

Ceramics are defined as soil hardened by heat. Terratech is a material research project and magazine that explores biomineralization (or self hardening) by indigenous soil bacteria. Soil can be hardened without heat by bacteria. The aim of this project is to transform “dirt”, the first ever material defined as “waste”, into a biologically active vessel though the use of CO2 as a feedstock for self-manufactured material samples.
